I am a fan before I am an artist. I was that twelve year old girl that looked up to Taylor Swift. I get what that role is as a fan. I think that because I know that, I’m really careful and intentional about what I say and what I put out. I want to be that role for anyone who wants me to be that.
Let’s take Taylor Swift. She lives in a huge beautiful apartment; she gets limo-ed everywhere. She’s not seeing what it means to live in New York.
I like Taylor Swift a lot. She has really fun, catchy songs. It’s so funny: I always say any guy that’s gonna date her, just be careful, because if it doesn’t work out, they know by now the next single is gonna be about them! I love how real she is. I really respect her a lot as an artist.
It might be interesting to people to say that I would do something with Taylor Swift, but the reality is, it’s so not on my list of things to do.
You look at Taylor Swift, and every ‘i’ is dotted, every story is finished.
I’ve always had such a high level of respect for Taylor Swift because she writes all of her music.
My favorite Taylor Swift song is between ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Wildest Dreams.’
Most of my ukulele heroes were traditional players from Hawaii, like Eddie Kamae and Ohta-san. There may not be uke stars in popular culture, but there are certainly pop stars that play uke – George Harrison, Eddie Vedder, Taylor Swift, Train, and Paul McCartney.
Anytime you go to see a band with a guitar player, there’s always a fear of guitar overkill! That’s a funny question. If you went to a Taylor Swift concert or a Jay-Z show, people would think, ‘Oh, my God, I hope I don’t get guitar overkill.’ People come to our show for guitar, and there can never be enough.
I’m like the male Taylor Swift.
There are a lot of similarities, even though we’re in two different businesses: There’s the Taylor Swift business and the Big Machine Label Group business, but there’s a huge intersection there. When we’re together, it’s limitless.
When you open up ‘Instagram,’ you need to know that you’re seeing the real Tony Hawk, the real Taylor Swift, the real Burberry.
You know what, I am not gonna lie, that Taylor Swift ‘Trouble’ song? I can’t resist that song. Her melodies are very catchy.
Taylor Swift dates guys so she can write a breakup song about them. I don’t think she’s dating for love – I think she’s dating for creativity. So let’s get her off the market and put her in dating detox. If she really wants love, she has to stop writing music about them.
I do pop, so pop is very broad. It could be anything from the Weeknd to Taylor Swift to Beyonce to whatever is on the radio, basically.
Nobody’s gonna beat Taylor Swift in a fan-voted thing. And nobody should, by the way.
